After sketching bamboo trees at Morikami Japanese Garden and Museum, I became fascinated with the simple shape of the trees, flowers, and leaves. River life seems wonderful, so the calmness of the water and the smooth grass enhances a tranquil environment. To have the beauty of an open landscape can free one’s soul.
To add interest to the piece, I painted someone in the water, I knew I needed something to change the dynamics of the painting. I enlarged flowers and someone was going in the pool. I love how it breathes life into the piece.
